Justin Moore performed a free concert on September 3, 2010 on the Chevy Court stage at the New York State Fair. Since 2008, country music fans have come to know singer-songwriter, Justin Moore for songs like “Small Town USA,” “Backwoods” and “How I Got to Be This Way.”
Despite his recent success, Moore, who grew up on his family’s farm in Arkansas, has managed to hold on to his authentic southern drawl and country boy charm.
He recently talked to me about his upcoming performance at the New York State Fair.
“We’ve been to New York quite a bit,” Moore said. “We’re looking forward to coming back.”
Although many singer-songwriters struggle to make a name for themselves in Nashville, Moore was able to use social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook to gain an audience for his music.
“Country radio is a huge part of our success,” he said.
For listeners who may not be familiar with his music, Moore believes his songs, many of which he co-wrote on his self-titled debut album, are a way to get to know him.
“Family is a big deal to me,” Moore said. He believes that listeners want to know “who you are as a person” before they spend $10 on a CD or $30 on a concert.
When it comes to his favorite song to perform this year, Moore said, “We just started playing one of our favorite old songs, ‘The Wait.'”
So what can fans expect from his free concert at the New York State Fair this year?
“Expect to have a good time,” Moore said.
