When it comes to actress Chelsea Kane, who currently stars on the ABC Family series Baby Daddy, her hairstyle is almost as famous as she is. In fact, there’s even a Pinterest board dedicated to the slight variations of her blonde, angled bob. Which is why it’s no surprise that when her character first walks into the room on the season four finale of Drop Dead Diva, Stacy Barrett (played by April Bowlby) exclaims, “I love your hair!”
In a recent interview with StayFamous.Net, Chelsea talked about her popular hairstyle and why she decided to guest star on the episode.
Michael Aaron Gallagher: “What’s the story behind why you chose to go with that look and are you surprised by the popularity of it?”
Chelsea Kane: “Yes, I was really surprised by the great comments and questions and copies that my haircut received. I cut it a few years back, mainly out of being hot, tired of long hair, and I had definitely fallen victim to the LA look – long beach blonde hair, lots of extensions.
And to be honest with you, I just got really tired of it and really tired of the hours put in getting ready for work in the morning. I’d have to spend an extra – about an extra hour in the makeup chair. So, I decided to just cut it all off and I love it.
I don’t know if I could ever go back to long hair again and I’m so flattered that the girls like it and the guys like it too.”
In her guest-starring role, Chelsea plays Grammy Award-winner Paige McBride, a singer-songwriter who is being sued by an ex because the lyrics to her song “Who’s Broken Now?” may have influenced an obsessed fan (played by Kelly Osbourne) to commit a crime. The episode airs Sunday, Sept. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.

Actress Chelsea Kane guest stars on the season finale of Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva.
Michael Aaron Gallagher: “Why did you decide to take on this role?”
Chelsea Kane: “When I first heard about the character, I just thought how much fun did that sound? To first of all play a country star, and I’m sure my dad (who’s a big country fanatic) will love it… I wanted to do something totally different and I had never played a character like that. And also, I loved that she was kind of a nice pop star. You know, here she is getting caught up in this mess when she’s already heartbroken and I just thought that was a fun way to take it… I feel like ‘pop star, movie star’ roles out there for young blonde girls are usually pretty mean and conniving, so I like that this girl has a heart and she just kind of got caught up in a bad situation. So, that’s what really drew me to the project.
Plus, you know, to be shooting in Atlanta and there were some other guest stars on the show that I was excited about. Kelly Osbourne plays my biggest fan, which is hysterical to me because I’m such a fan of her. So, that was a very surreal moment. And Ethan Embry was also on the episode, even though we didn’t have any scenes together. I grew up watching all of his movies and, it was fun to see him in the hotel restaurant at the end of the night. So, it was all the way around just a great experience for me.”
Drop Dead Diva airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.
