Brandon and Savannah bring new music to Pop Explosion LA

When it comes to blowing up on the pop music scene, one brother/sister duo is ready for the explosion – Pop Explosion that is! Acoustic pop group Brandon and Savannah are set to perform at the Pop Explosion LA event on November 3. Presented by Popchips and hosted by Stephen Glickman from Big Time Rush, the concert features 13 acts, a fan village with a variety of merchandise and celebrity meet-and-greet opportunities.
In a recent interview with StayFamous.Net, 15-year-old Brandon and 13-year-old Savannah talked about their new songs and their upcoming show at Avalon Hollywood.
Michael Aaron Gallagher: “Why did you guys decide to perform as a brother/sister group instead of doing your own thing and releasing individual albums?”
Savannah Hudson: “Well, we had always kind of done our own thing when we were younger and we started writing together. And once we wrote together, we started singing together. Then we posted a video of us playing around, singing a Lady Antebellum song on YouTube and we got a lot of great feedback and everyone loved it. We realized that there’s there’s no one out there that’s brother/sister that sing together, so we decided that we wanted to pursue that together and write all of our music. And we are here today!”

Michael Aaron Gallagher: “How do you usually go about writing songs? Does one person focus on writing the lyrics or do you collaborate with the melody and the storyline?”
Brandon Hudson: “Usually it’s a joint process. I’ll come up with a guitar riff or a piano riff or I’ll come up with chorus and verse melodies and she’ll write the words, or it will be vice versa. Overall, we come up with the songs together and it’s like 50/50. After a lot of hard work and dedication we have some cool records that we’ve come up with.”
Michael Aaron Gallagher: “What do you like most about working with each other?”
Brandon Hudson: “We really love that we always have each other’s back and it’s always natural. You know, being brother and sister, we’re like best friends. We are best friends. And when we’re on stage it’s just something fun, it’s not a thing that we feel is forced and it comes naturally and it’s a blast overall. I would say that’s my favorite thing about working together.”
Michael Aaron Gallagher: “When you first step out on stage what’s going through your mind in those first few moments? What are you usually thinking about?”
Savannah Hudson: “Both of us, we love the stage. We become completely different people. It’s just happiness through our bodies. It’s like we were meant to be on stage. Our personalities change completely. We’re not the same people at all. We show our passion through our singing.”
Michael Aaron Gallagher: “I’ve interviewed a lot of big acts in the music industry and I was surprised that some of them are a little nervous when they first go out on stage. Does it make it easier for you guys being brother and sister, do you feel more comfortable because you’re with each other out there?”
Savannah Hudson: “Yes, a hundred percent. When we’re on the stage together I feel like I know he’s got my back if anything happens. I just always feel like I have someone there. We love being together on stage.”

Michael Aaron Gallagher: “Do you have a favorite song to perform right now?”
Brandon Hudson: “Our favorite song to perform on stage right now is probably our new music. We have a new song called ‘The Cool Kids.’ We’re very, very excited about that. We’re actually playing that at Pop Explosion this weekend. And we also have a song called ‘Los Angeles.’ That’s a new one as well. When we play those on stage we just have a blast, we rock out, and I would say those are our two favorites right now.”
Michael Aaron Gallagher: “Will you be doing a meet and greet and signing autographs at the event?”
Brandon Hudson: “Yes, we will. We will be doing a meet and greet and we will be signing autographs… we’re excited to meet everybody. We’re excited to perform and we’re excited to see people’s reactions to the new music. ”
Michael Aaron Gallagher: “Do you have a special message for your fans?”
Brandon Hudson: “We would just like to say thank you to all of them, who have been supporting us – for those who have stayed by our side. And we are so thankful to have all of you guys and we’re very excited for you to hear our new music. We hope that you guys all really enjoy it. We love you all, thank you!”
The Pop Explosion LA event will feature Brandon and Savannah, Midnight Red, IM5, Downtown Drive, Four Count, Lia Marie Johnson, Blush, L2, Ryan Ochoa, Dylan Hyde, PSanders, and Skye Stevens.
