“Athena Baumeister is a versatile up-and-coming actress, whose ability to deliver strong dramatic and comedic performances sets her apart from many of her peers.”

When it comes to making movies, actress Athena Baumesiter isn’t letting her age stop her from writing and directing her own films. Although she is only 14 years old, she is already an award-winning independent filmmaker whose projects were named the Prize Winning Short Film by the Providence Film Festival and the Best Film in the Kids and Teen Filmmaker Awards.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Baumeister has traveled extensively, living in four different countries. Now, as an actress in Burbank, California, she is continuing to pursue her passion for television and film.

Her recent role in the web series “Correction House,” as the next door neighbor of a group of recently reformed convicts, is helping to attract more attention for her work.

She also recently starred in a short film called “Voodoo Doll,” a project that allowed her to tap into a darker side of drama, something reminiscent in the work of her favorite directors Quentin Tarantino and Tim Burton.

“I was playing this heartbroken girl, who really likes this guy but he was only pretending to like her so he could make fun of her with his friends. And then she made a voodoo doll of him and set him on fire,” she said. “I really got into a dark mindset. I like that kind of thing. It was a lot of fun.”

Baumeister got her start working on independent film sets as a production assistant, something that gave her the experience and understanding to know how to approach her own projects. Her dedication to working on a screenplay sometimes leads to late nights studying.

“When I get a script that I need to work on or an audition that I need to rehearse, I’ll really attack it and really work on it until I’m sure it’s perfect.” she said. “I don’t want to not get a role because I didn’t do enough work.”

Over the next year, Athena is planning to produce two more short films and to continue to audition for television and film roles in Hollywood.
