Exclusive Interview by Michael Aaron Gallagher of StayFamous.Net

Evan Hofer
With one of the most talented Disney casts on television, the hit show Kickin’ It just recently finished shooting their second season. Sixteen year-old actor Evan Hofer, who plays a recurring role as Randy on the show, recently talked to StayFamous.Net about the popular Disney XD series and how he got his start in Hollywood.“It all started when my mom signed me up for a modeling class with my sister,” said Hofer who is originally from Leavenworth, Kansas.
Although he was hesitant to try modeling and acting at first, it didn’t take long for him to learn how to be comfortable in front of the camera. In fact, he soon developed a passion for playing different characters and eventually began auditioning for roles like his current gig on Kickin’ It.
The teen comedy series, which stars Hannah Montana‘s Jason Earles, Leo Howard, Mateo Arias, Dylan Riley Snyder, Alex Christian Jones, and Olivia Holt, is about a group of friends who attend the Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy. It was created by Emmy nominated producer Jim O’Doherty (3rd Rock From the Sun) and is produced by It’s a Laugh Productions. Since its debut in 2011, it has become one of the highest rated shows on Disney XD.
With a handful of episodes already under his belt, Hofer has enjoyed his time on set so far and he has even made a few good friends. So what is the cast of Kickin’ It really like behind-the-scenes of their hit show?
“Leo is definitely a very cool, relaxed, chill guy who’s a lot of fun to be around,” Hofer said. “Olivia is a little ball of energy. She’s one of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met. Dylan is actually one of my really good friends. He plays Milton on the show. Dylan is one of the funniest, craziest guys. He’s a really, really funny guy. Alex is a super nice guy. We always play basketball on set and hang out. And then the one word that would describe Matteo is swag. He just has the most swag.”
In addition to his friends on the Kickin’ It set, Hofer has also had the chance to get to know other Disney stars.
“I’m really good friends with Chyna Anne McClain from A.N.T. Farm,” Hofer said. “And actually one of my really, really good friends, Billy Unger is on Lab Rats.”
Now that the cast is on break from shooting, Hofer has been enjoying his summer vacation.
“This summer I’ve been hanging out with my friends a lot,” Hofer said. “I shoot archery with my dad sometimes, so we’ve been hitting up the range and going golfing every once in a while.”
Hofer has also been keeping up with his martial arts training as well. In real life, he happens to be a disciplined athlete, with a first-degree black belt in Hapkido (a Korean martial art) and training in Kobayashi Shōrin-ryū, karate-do and kobudo. His goal is to one day be able to utilize his martial arts talents on the big screen.
“I would really love to do action movies and become an action hero,” Hofer said. “I think that would be a lot of fun.”
Some of the action stars that inspire him include Bruce Lee, Jason Statham, Jet Li and, of course, Chuck Norris. After all, as he re-tells one of his favorite jokes, “Chuck Norris doesn’t mow his lawn, he stares at it and dares it to grow.”
Trivia: Did you know, Evan Hofer is not the only person in his family in the entertainment industry? His sister, Lexie Hofer is also a super-talented, pop-country singer/songwriter.
