In her new role as the sexy assassin Veronica in Cleaners, actress Emmanuelle Chriqui is dazzling audiences. The show, which she co-produces with writer and director Paul Leyden, is an action-packed, thrill ride that also includes some other famous stars, including David Arquette (Scream), Gina Gershon (Face/Off) and Emily Osment (Hannah Montana).
Originally from Montreal, Quebec, Emmanuelle fell in love with acting and eventually moved to California to pursue a career in Hollywood. Over the years, she has landed numerous television roles, including one of her best-known performances, as E’s girlfriend Sloan on the HBO original series Entourage. She also did voice-over work for animations and even starred in the Adam Sandler comedy You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.
Emmanuelle continues to stretch herself in her career, as she takes on new projects that demonstrate her on-screen versatility. And although her journey to stardom hasn’t always been easy, she continues to grow and embrace new challenges.
“What we do, it’s so untraditional,” Chriqui told me recently in an interview with StayFamous.Net. “Our job is much more of a lifestyle and I think that the highs and the lows, they really just kind of teach you about yourself and about life… I feel like there’s a lesson at every turn. So whatever turns out to be like a professional decision always seems to affect me spiritually somehow.”
“So I think sort of the evolution of me and the growing of me is sort of hand in hand with moving out here 15 years ago really. And kind of just keeping both my feet on the ground and always looking forward and hoping that things keep moving, which they have.”

What makes her new series Cleaners so exciting, is that it will be available across the Crackle platform (a SONY property), something that is helping to shape a new era of television and redefining the traditional entertainment experience.

“This model is still – it’s so new and it’s fresh and it is the future,” said Paul Leyden, writer and director of Cleaners. “I mean it’s such an incredibly exciting space to be in. And look, it’s just given us a lot of creative freedom. All the execs and the people over at Crackle have been so supportive… No one’s making money on this but it’s the vibe and the sense of fun, it’s on the screen.”
Chriqui explained how Crackle offers the show a potentially larger audience.
“I also think that the online platform… initially it also just has a much bigger reach,” she said. “That’s what’s so exciting about this is that the potentiality of millions of people seeing this is a lot greater than just doing a pilot on a television channel.”
There’s no doubt, people will be talking about the series’ debut season, which also features former Disney star Emily Osment, who is the younger sister of actor Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense).
“Emily Osment is going to shock a lot of people,” Chriqui told StayFamous.Net. “She comes from the Disney world of Hannah Montana… I don’t think her fans are ready for what they’re about to see. She is so bad-ass in this it is out of control.”
Paul Leyden echoed her sentiments.
“I think both girls are really going to shock people in as much as, we haven’t seen them play these types of roles,” he said. “And they just fit like a glove on both of them… This show’s a fun romp and the girls really embrace that tone. And they embrace the spirit of it – physically and performance-wise.”
