Move over NBC, there’s a new king of the must-see Thursday night comedy lineup. On June 28, FX debuts two new television shows, Brand X with Russell Brand and Anger Management starring Charlie Sheen. They join the already established, wildly-original sitcoms Wilfred and Louie in a powerhouse night of comedy.

In a recent interview with StayFamous.Net, actor Elijah Wood, who plays Ryan on Wilfred and will also be starring in the upcoming film The Hobbit, talked about the highly-anticipated comedy lineup.

“I think Louie’s show is perhaps the best comedy on television,” Wood said. “It’s exciting to be a part of a block of comedy. FX makes very interesting and unique choices, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it all fits together.”

In the second season of Wilfred, which is based on the Australian series by the same name, one thing is certain – nothing is certain. From the recent guest-starring role of Robin Williams in the special preview episode (where he reprises a character made famous in Good Will Hunting) to the psychological games Ryan must endure at the hands of man’s best friend, it seems the lovable Wilfred is up to his same old tricks.

But when it comes to a character as unsophisticated as a delinquent man in a dog costume, no one is better suited to prove he is a complex, multidimensional creature than actor Jason Gann, who co-created the series.

“The guy positively blows my mind with what he comes up with, with his character,” Wood said. “I think on the surface one would assume that Wilfred is a hilarious, relatively dark, manipulative character, but it’s amazing the amount of color that he brings to it constantly. There’s actually a lot of freedom in the writing that allows Jason [Gann] to actually add all of these multiple layers to where he’s almost multiple characters in one. And that’s always constantly surprising and funny to me.”

Over the course of two seasons, the cast has grown closer too.

“We’re like a family,” Wood said. “I think that first season started that, and this season has cemented it.”

Wilfred airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on FX. To watch clips from the show visit www.fxnetworks.com/wilfred/. You can also become a fan of Elijah Wood on Facebook at www.facebook.com/officialelijahwood and follow him on Twitter @woodelijah.
